Long Island Restaurant Week Recommendations
Waterzooi of Garden City
Being a Belgian food lover on Long Island is tough. There aren’t an awful lot of places to grab some great Belgian around here. Luckily, Waterzooi, the boss of Belgian Bistro, has elected to participate in this year’s Long Island Restaurant Week. Appetizers include baked French onion soup garnished with country bread, lobster croquette with Belgian vegetable slaw, toasted sweet potato gnocchi and more. For the main course, you’ve got a ton of amazing choices. Take the carbonade flamanade, for example. It consists of tender, marinated beef stewed in Belgian brown ale with caramelized apples and frites. In the mood for seafood? Try they Bouillabaisse, which is shrimp and lobster in a saffron tomato crab broth. For dessert, choose between triple chocolate mousse, a lemon bar or baked apple cobbler. Their full Restaurant Week menu can be found here.
Eric’s Italian Bistro of Mineola
One of the best restaurants in Mineola is Eric’s Italian Bistro. Soups, salads, fried calamari and more make up their appetizers for the week. For the main course, there are traditional Italian options like chicken and veal parmigiana, but more exciting meals like pan-seared tilapia and roasted duck are also available. For dessert, they have a sampler that consists of three items that are yet to be revealed, but sure to be delicious. All of their Restaurant Week specialties can be found here.
Brasserie Americana of Great Neck
Brasserie Americana serves French and American cuisine and is attached to the extravagant Inn at Great Neck, which makes for outstanding ambiance. For starters, the fresh mozzarella and tomato is highly recommended. Entrees include signature dishes like chicken milanese, sirloin steak with chimichurri sauce or sesame tuna tataki. For dessert, mango cheesecake and crème brulee are available. Also, while it’s not part of the Restaurant Week bargain, Brasserie Americana has an unbelievable wine selection. You can see their full Restaurant Week menu here.
Anchor Down Seafood Bar & Grill of Merrick
Long Island’s scenic South Shore is the site of Anchor Down Seafood Bar & Grill. This maritime Merrick spot is your number one Long Island Restaurant Week destination if you love seafood. If you’re wondering why, we’ve got three words for you: Caribbean conch chowder. It’s the perfect appetizer to kick off your meal. As far as entrees, the blackened swordfish steak and lemongrass seafood stew both sound incredible. For dessert, you can’t go wrong with the gluten-free, flourless chocolate cake. The whole Anchor Down specialty menu is available here.
Aji 53 of Bay Shore
For Restaurant Week sushi, Aji 53 is your spot. There are ten appetizers to choose from, including rock shrimp tempura and beef gyoza. After that, you have a choice between sushi or six cooked dishes such as Hawaiian chicken, filet mignon and saltire salmon. If you choose the sushi option, you can pick one signature roll, like the American Dream or Twister, and one classic roll like spicy tuna or salmon avocado. For dessert, fried Oreos are our top choice, but fried banana and ice cream are also available.
Above are just a few of the restaurants participating this year. The deals only last a week, so make sure you hit as many restaurants as you can to fill up on fantastic, three-course meals!
