As Mother’s Day quickly approaches, it’s time to think of an activity to show your mom some appreciation. If you need a bit of inspiration, this list of things to do on Mother’s Day is for you!
Things to do on Mother’s Day
Paying for a trip to the spa for Mom is one of the most popular things to do on Mother’s Day, and with good reason. A soothing spa day is a great way to say “thank you” for all of that hard work she does. Everybody loves to be pampered once in a while. Whether your mom would be interested in a relaxing massage or an appointment to a fancy hair salon, spa days make excellent gifts.
Vacations don’t always have to be lavish, week-long retreats to distant countries. There are plenty of great weekend getaways that any mom will appreciate within a few hours’ drive of Long Island. If you choose to plan a weekend getaway for your mom, it’s a good idea to provide a variety of hotel choices, this way she won’t feel obligated to follow your exact plans.
The weather is warming up, and wine tasting is an awesome springtime activity. Long Island’s vineyards are calling your name this Mother’s Day! Be sure to keep an eye out for our favorite Long Island wines while you’re out East.
Pindar Vineyards of Peconic will be hosting a Mother’s Day event from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. this year. Live music by Larry Liso and complementary souvenir Pindar logo wine glasses will be provided.
Mother’s Day Brunch
Who doesn’t love a delicious meal? That’s probably one of the greatest gifts of all. A number of restaurants all over Long Island are offering specials on Mother’s Day brunches including:
- Mill Creek Tavern of Bayville
- Allegria Hotel of Long Beach
- Glen Cove Mansion
- Polo Steakhouse at the Garden City Hotel
- Captain Bill’s of Bay Shore
If you’d rather not head out to a restaurant, the Food Network has put together a list of easy-to-make recipes that are perfect for breakfast in bed.
Create a Family Photo Album
One of the greatest things to do on Mother’s Day is to create a photo album that has plenty of pictures of mom with the rest of the family. Photo albums make great gifts for all occasions because of the wonderful memories they carry with them, and they’re fairly inexpensive to create.

A number of establishments around Long Island are offering free services for mothers. Among the Long Island institutions offering free admission for moms on Mother’s Day are:
