The holidays are on their way, and for many people, that means time off from work. Time off from work means vacation! No matter if you’re looking to admire a winter wonderland or go somewhere warm to escape the cold weather, you’ll be able to take any of these holiday vacations without a passport.

Holiday Vacations for Cold Weather Connoisseurs

Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is a beautiful, blue, freshwater lake located right on the border of California and Nevada, and it’s stunning no matter the season. For fans of winter sports, it should be on the top of your list of destinations for holiday vacations. Heavenly Ski Resort is so big that by skiing there, you’ll have the opportunity to ski through both California and Nevada in just one day. After working up an appetite on the slopes, there are plenty of great restaurants available. Both the north and south sides of the lake have excellent nightlife experiences from quaint bars to casinos as well.

Keystone, Colorado

Keystone is a ski resort that’s ideal for a family vacation. At 11,640 feet, Dercum Mountain is a wonderful location for both beginners and intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Also, kids under the age of 12 ski and snowboard for free when you book a two night’s stay. Keystone offers much more than just skiing during the holidays. As far as holiday activities, you’ll find sleigh rides, meetings with Santa and a handcrafted miniature village made from 8,000 pounds of chocolate.

Hershey Park, Pennsylvania

Hershey Park should be on everyone’s bucket list of holiday vacations. Taking a walk down Hershey Park’s Christmas Candylane, which features over 4 million twinkling lights and plenty of family-friendly rides never loses its magic. Hershey Park also hosts light shows and visits with Santa. The ambiance of the park alone is enough to keep plenty of families coming back year after year with its aroma of warm, fresh chocolate in the chilly Pennsylvania air.

Warm Up Your Winter with these Holiday Vacations

Maui, Hawaii

Maui is Hawaii’s second largest island and is filled with fun activities for all times of year. The weather in Maui is very pleasant and mild in the wintertime—the temperature on an average day ranges from the low 60s to the mid-70s and there’s relatively little precipitation. Mid-December marks the beginning of Maui’s whale season. Watching whales breach in the gorgeous Hawaiian waters is an experience for the ages. There are plenty more sights to see when you venture to Maui, including countless pristine waterfalls and Pearl Harbor. Although Pearl Harbor is located on the island of Oahu, you can still take a one-day trip to the historical site. If you’re not in the mood for sightseeing, you can’t go wrong with a lazy day spent on a Hawaiian beach.

From beach trips and boat tours to museums and a butterfly conservatory, there are plenty of things to do in Key West no matter the season. Between the warm weather and the activities you’ll find, holiday vacations in Key West feel a lot like Christmas in July.

Phoenix, Arizona

Unless you’d like to melt in the sweltering, triple-digit heat of a Phoenix summer, the winter is the perfect time to visit Arizona’s capital city. An average December day will see temperatures ranging from the mid-40s to the mid-60s.
