This month, Long Island schools will shut down for a week of spring break. That means that your children will be out of school and looking for things to do. So, if your family is planning to stay local and you’re searching for fun spring break activities, you’ve come to the right place. Here are some fun events and happenings to keep everyone busy during the time off!
Fun Spring Break Activities for Everyone
Visit a Museum
Just because school is out for a week, that doesn’t mean that the learning should stop entirely! Luckily, on a place like Long Island, there are plenty of fun and exciting museums that are filled with spring break activities ideal for the whole family.
From fun, educational centers like the Long Island Children’s Museum and Cradle of Aviation (which are right next to each other) to nature-based museums like the one at Tackapusha, there are no shortage of places to visit.
Take a Hike
Now that the weather is nice and the sun is back out again, Long Islanders will be flocking outdoors to enjoy our scenic landscapes. For this reason, there has never been a better time to get out and enjoy nature.
Fortunately, there are tons of gorgeous vistas to experience on nature trails like the ones at:
- Peter J. Schmitt Massapequa Preserve
- Sands Point Preserve
- Sunken Forest
Just grab some sunscreen, hydration and snacks and you’ll be all set for an outdoor day of fun!
Hit the (Mini) Links
During the spring, golfers across Long Island begin to tee off as the golf season gets back in full swing. However, if your little ones aren’t ready for the real thing, mini golf is the next best option!
With awesome courses in Eisenhower Park and on Freeport’s Nautical Mile, there are no shortage of locations to get your mini golf on. Even if you aren’t the best putter, this spring break activity is still going to be fun for the whole family!
Springtime means that Long Island’s favorite amusement park, Adventureland, is back open until winter. Although it’s only open on weekends until summer, this spring break activity still has plenty of rides, games, attractions, and anything else you need for a great time.
