Long Island Ducks

For us New Yorkers, you’re either a Yankees or Mets fan, there’s no in between. However, out here on Long Island, there’s also another independent baseball team that we can all get behind: the Ducks. So, this summer, head on out to Bethpage Ballpark in Central Islip to see the Long Island Ducks in action.

The Complete Guide to the 2018 Long Island Ducks

The Roster

Currently, the Long Island Ducks hold an overall record of 34-35 on the season. However, in the second half, they are 4-2 and sit in second place in the Liberty Division behind the Somerset Patriots and their top slugger Craig Massey.

Team Leaders

Just because the Ducks aren’t in first place, doesn’t mean they don’t have more than a few standout players on their roster.

In fact, the Ducks’ very own Jordany Valdespin, who played in Major League Baseball for the Mets and Marlins, leads the entire league with a .357 batting average, while Travis Snider has knocked in the most runs batted in at 52.

As for the pitchers, the Ducks also have their fair share of fireballers. Bennet Parry has the most strikeouts in the league at 104, and even has the second lowest earned run average. The team also features one of the MLB’s greatest relief pitchers of all-time, Francisco Rodriguez (otherwise known as K-Rod).

The Stadium

Central Islip’s Bethpage Ballpark is a 6,002-seat state-of-the-art facility that opened in 2000. Since then, it has welcomed over seven million fans and hosted more than 670 sellouts. In addition to regular seating, there are 20 luxury suites and an indoor batting facility.

The stadium is also home to “The Duck Club,” a spectacular restaurant and bar located on the club-level behind home plate. This climate-controlled environment features 126 seats, a diverse menu, eight flat-screen televisions and ledge-style seating, so fans don’t have to miss a second of the action.

There’s even plenty of activities at the ballpark for kids. For instance, they have a bouncy house and a pitch radar. Not to mention, there are also a bunch of opportunities for autographs and running the bases!

If you are thinking of coming out for a Long Island Ducks game at Bethpage Ballpark in the near future, consider attending one of these important series:

  • July 30 - August 1: Somerset Patriots
  • August 9 - 12: York Revolution
