Long Island Corn Mazes

There’s truly no better place to spend the fall season than right here on Long Island. The air is crisp; the foliage is in full bloom; and there are more fun fall activities than you can shake your finger at. However, besides pumpkin patches and apple orchards, Long Island corn mazes are great for the whole family. So, without further ado, here are some of our favorites in the area.

The Amazing Maize Maze

Every year, the American Maize Company selects several sites to host their famous Amazing Maize Maze. This year, one of the chosen sites is the Queens County Farm Museum in Floral Park, Queens, where it will run until October 27.

Comprising New York City’s largest tract of remaining farmland, this 47-acre site, which dates back to 1697, is perfect for their series of themed corn mazes and larger-than-life designs. Some of their past creations include a violin, the solar system and even a recreation of George Washington crossing the Delaware River.

Harbes Family Farm

Besides being one of the best pumpkin patches in the area, Harbes Family Farm in Mattituck also boasts one of the most fun, family-friendly corn mazes as well.

In their Wizard of Oz-themed maze, participants must help Dorothy and Toto find their way home by following the yellow corn road. Along the way, you’ll meet up with old friends like the Tinman, Cowardly Lion and the Scarecrow.

Not to mention, this Long Island corn maze is also home to all things fall, with endless pumpkins, delicious foods and fresh fruits and vegetables all on site.

Schmitt’s Family Farm

From September 28 to October 27, the Annual Fall Festival will take place at Schmitt’s Family Farm of Melville.

But in addition to pumpkin picking, hay rides and farm animals, Schmitt’s is also known for their seven-acre corn maze, which is open on weekends and Columbus Day. This year’s theme is “Mad Scientist,” so grab your friends and family and race through this maze sometime soon!

Gabrielson’s Country Farm

For families with younger children, Jamesport’s Gabrielson’s Country Farm is the perfect place for a fall getaway. This North Fork farm has hay wagons, train rides, farm animals, live music and one of the best Long Island corn mazes for children.

Although they do charge general admission, there is no admission required to visit their dairy cows, pumpkin field or farm stand. Last but not least, make sure to try their famous roasted corn during your visit.

Fun Long Island corn mazes are practically an autumnal tradition around these parts, so plan your visit on an upcoming weekend!
