Labor Day Weekend (2)

With summer coming to a close, this is the perfect time to get out your last few summer activities. Whether you’re in the city or out east on Long Island, there are plenty of activities for you to do to enjoy some Labor Day fun all throughout the island. Before the kids go back to school and fall starts to set in, check out these great Labor Day weekend ideas.

Four Fun Labor Day Weekend Activities to Check Out

Nickerson Beach

1. Go to the Beach

The best way to spend the last moments of summer is soaking up the sun and warm air outside before it’s over. Nickerson Beach Park in Lido Beach has golf, an aquatic center, a dog park for your furry friends, and plenty of food concession stands so you can arrive in the morning and spend your entire day there. This is a great option for Labor Day weekend.

2. Go to a Festival

Attend New York’s largest music festival, with some of the best-known DJ’s, such as Zedd, Cash Cash, and Skrillex. This year on Randall’s Island is Electric Zoo, an electronic dance music festival for people to spend the whole weekend having a good time and listening to fun music. You can either purchase a ticket for one day or for the entire Labor Day weekend, depending on what artists you’re interested in seeing.

Base Ball

3. Old Time Base ball

Head over to Old Bethpage, where you can watch people play old time base ball as it was played back in 1984. They follow the rules and customs, including the old spelling of the game’s name, base ball, and the vintage uniforms. On September 1, anyone from ages three and up can enjoy the fun sport.

Candy Works

4. Labor Day Candy BBQ Party

For a full two hours, bring your kids to the Candy BBQ where they’ll enjoy making candy kebabs, eating pizza, drinking juice, and playing some fun candy themed games. Kids ages 4-16 are welcome to attend and have the chance to make four candy kebabs and some instant s’mores. The event is located at Chocolate Works Upper East Side, a premiere party destination for kids that they’ll be sure to love.

No matter where you are on the island there is something for everyone. This is the perfect time to soak up the last rays of sunshine and get the most out of your Labor Day weekend.
