Holiday Activities

The holiday season is a special time of the year for families. That’s because there are plenty of festive, kid-friendly outings to participate in all across Long Island. So, whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah or anything else, here are some of the absolute best holiday activities happening in our area this month.

Long Island’s Top Holiday Activities for Families

Candlelight Evenings at Old Bethpage

Visit Old Bethpage Village Restoration on the nights of December 21, 22, 23, 27, 28 and 29 for an old-school holiday celebration like no other. The Candlelight Evenings will run from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., starting with a grand candlelight procession at 5:15 p.m.

Not to mention, there will be a train and craft show along with other holiday activities like chestnuts roasting on an open fire, broom making, hot mulled cider, a scavenger hunt and musical entertainment throughout the village. Santa Claus himself will also be on-hand for the action.

Purchase tickets here before they’re all gone. After all, discounts are available if you buy them ahead of time.

Holiday Activities

Children’s Hanukkah Party

Join Central Synagogue - Beth Emeth in Rockville Centre on December 9 for a Children’s Hanukkah Party from noon to 1 p.m. Children of all ages are invited to participate in story time, sing-a-longs, crafts, cookie baking, chocolate making, pizza and so much more.

Best of all, no synagogue membership or affiliation is required, so everyone and anyone in the area is welcome. Tickets for the event are $10 per child and $5 for adults, with a $30 maximum per family. Besides, there aren’t many better kid-friendly holiday events during Hanukkah.

Holiday Activities

Breakfast with Santa & Friends

If your child is eager to meet the big man himself, pay a visit to Breakfast with Santa & Friends on Sunday, December 16 at United Skates of America in Seaford.

From 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., your children can meet Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, The Wooden Soldier and Gingerbread Man, as well as Mr. and Mrs. Claus. This will all happen while everyone enjoys a full breakfast brunch of eggs, bacon, pancakes, cereal, bagels, breakfast beverages and more.
