The winter weather cannot be compared to the summer fun on Long Island, but that doesn’t mean you have to sit around and wait for the seasons to change! Museum Row Nassau County

You might have heard of it before, but if not, Museum Row is just what you think it is; a row of museums! It is located in Garden City, right by the Roosevelt Field Mall. There’s plenty of museums fit for the whole family. Each exhibit will fascinate you. Check out the fun things to do in Nassau County and which museum interests you:

Long Island Children’s Museum

Need to keep the kids entertained on these cold days? Take a trip to Long Island Children’s Museum. This interactive museum will keep you and the kids occupied for hours on end. The galleries expand and educate the young minds of your kids. They’ll visit Bricks & Sticks, a place to create three-dimensional structures using a vast assortment of blocks and interactive software. Or play with bubbles! Then head on over to ClimbIt, a safe jungle gym structure, and explore the meandering ramps. There’s also the Communications Station, Feasts for Beasts, KaleidoZone, Sound Showers, Pattern Studio, Sandy Island, ToolBox, TotSpot and more! So, try out one of the best things to do in Nassau County for kids!

The Cradle of Aviation Museum

You may need quite a few hours for this one, it’s The Cradle of Aviation Museum. This museum doesn’t just have great exhibits, but tons of interactive areas that are kid friendly. You’ll be taken through decades of aviation progress from 1903 to exploring space today. Then head over to the JetBlue Sky Theater Planetarium and Dome Theater, where all different kinds of shows go on throughout the day, like Sea Monsters. Then take flight with the Blue Angels in the giant motion simulator of X-Ride Theater! The Cradle of Aviation also has Nunley’s Carousel, a running amusement ride since 1912. The carousel has been installed in Brooklyn, Baldwin and now Garden City. Its classic look will bring joy to any child or adult! This Nassau County museum can take you on a trip!

The Nassau County Firefighters Museum and Education Center

Learn the history and about the brave men and women who make up Nassau County’s Firefighters. It’s one of the rewarding and appreciative things to do in Nassau County. The Nassau County Firefighters Museum aims to display the gratitude and awareness of everything our Firefighters do. This is the most recent center added to Museum row, opening in 2006. You’ll see old fire trucks, past Firefighters, memorabilia, equipment and more! The museum also works to educate children on fire safety and prevention. When you have some free time, take the kids on down to The Nassau County Firefighters Museum and Education Center.
