Being a dad is all about doing what’s best for your kids. Now, it’s time for the kids to return the favor. This year, there are tons of Father’s Day events on Long Island that you can bring dad to and give him an experience that will truly let him know how much he means to you. Just follow this guide and you’re sure to find an event that your father is sure to love.
Father’s Day Events to Check Out
The Cradle of Aviation
At this Father’s Day event, dads may get in free, but the experience is sure to be priceless. With its ever expanding collection of aircrafts and rare pieces of flight history, the Cradle of Aviation in Garden City will have you and your dad captivated from the second you walk in the door. In addition to the museum, there is a huge IMAX theater as well as a planetarium but the real treasure is the limited time Arcade Age exhibit. For a separate admission, dad will be able to play those games that he used to love (just don’t beat his high score!).
Car Show at the Merrick Train Station
From nine to four, bring your dad to check out this non-judged car show displaying vehicles from all eras. There’s also rides, live music, and tasty food to enjoy as well as vendors of all kinds so you can snag that perfect last-second Father’s Day gift. All proceeds from the event go to Nassau County Sheriff’s COBA Widows and Children’s Fund. Dads get in free of course, but for everyone else it’s just $15 in advance and $20 at the door, a slight price for a great cause.
Long Island Ducks vs. Lancaster Barnstormers
Take your dad out to the ballpark this Father’s Day and spend the afternoon having fun in the sun watching the hometown Ducks battle for first place in the Liberty Division. In addition to the great matchup, there will also be a stadium-wide celebratory barbeque and then later on a catch on the field. That’s a once in a lifetime experience that dad will cherish forever. Tickets are reasonably priced and can be found here.
Brunch at the Library Café
Farmingdale is home to one of Long Island’s premier Sunday brunch spots and they’re pulling out all the stops for Father’s Day. From 11am to 3pm, your whole family can enjoy this buffet-style layout featuring brunch favorites such as eggs benedict, the restaurant’s famous Texas-style French Toast, and of course plenty of crispy bacon. For dads and those of age, the brunch also includes a complimentary Bloody Mary or Mimosa. Great men deserve great meals, so treat dad this Father’s Day and make sure it’s as delicious as possible.
