Jones Beach July 4th Fireworks Spectacular
If you’re searching for the quintessential Independence Day activity on Long Island, look no further than the July 4th Fireworks Spectacular at Jones Beach State Park in Wantagh. In what has become a long-standing tradition, Long Islanders spend the day at the beach before watching fireworks in the evening.
With over 100,000 visitors expected for the show, fireworks will begin around 9:30 p.m. on the Central Mall. You will even be able to simulcast a musical array of patriotic songs on WALK 97.5 FM or K-98.3 FM to go along with the display. Just remember, parking can be expensive, so it might be in your best interest to order an All Island taxi!
Bellmore Striders’ 36th Annual Independence Day 4-Mile Run
For anyone who would like to spend their 4th of July giving back to the community, you can participate in the Bellmore Striders’ 36th Annual Independence Day 4-Mile Run, starting at 8 a.m. The race is ran in memory of the late Matthew Warkala, a former Striders member who died of brain cancer.
Aside from the four-mile run, there will be a one-mile run for younger, inexperienced runners. There will be refreshments provided at the end every mile, as well as at the finish line. The first 600 entrants will receive a free tank top.
1863 Independence Day
Head out to Old Bethpage Village Restoration and celebrate the 4th of July like its 1863. Where else are you going to experience a historically accurate version of our country’s famous celebration?
At the 1863 Independence Day event, you can participate in fun, antique activities and even learn about historic trades in our nation’s past. Not to mention, there will be a full brass band and fiddle music concerts to play all the hits from the 1800s.
