Sandwiched between New York City and Long Island’s East End is the suburban oasis of Nassau County. While it’s a wonderful place to be year round, it’s especially fun when the weather warms up during the spring and summer months. All Island Transportation has highlighted some of our favorite things to do in Nassau County so you can partake in the excitement!
Exciting Things to do in Nassau County
Jones Beach simply has to be first and foremost on any list of things to do in Nassau County for a few reasons. First off is Jones Beach Theater. It’s always the site of countless awesome concerts every year, and there’s nothing quite like seeing your favorite band shred the stage with a gorgeous view in the background.
Secondly is Jones Beach State Park, which is home to some of Long Island’s best beaches. Fishing, strolls along the boardwalk, sunbathing and sports are all popular activities.
Oyster Bay Brewing Co.
Craft beer is growing more and more popular, and Nassau County has a relatively new brewery that’s seeking to seize their share of the small brew market. Oyster Bay Brewing Co. has only been around since 2012, yet it’s already earned a reputation as one of Long Island’s better breweries. With $10 flights and about a dozen beers on tap, a trip to Oyster Bay Brewing Co. is well worth it for any craft beer fan.

Support the New York Cosmos and New York Lizards
After the New York Islanders left Nassau Coliseum to make Brooklyn’s Barclays Center their home arena, many Long Islanders were upset with the lack of professional sports teams playing in the area. However, both the New York Cosmos and New York Lizards call Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium “home.” Even for people who never thought they would be soccer or lacrosse fans, Cosmos and Lizards games make for a wonderful time. Not to mention, both excellent teams are defending champions of their respective leagues.

The Nautical Mile is the unofficial nickname for Woodcleft Avenue in Freeport. With restaurants and outdoor bars, a trip to the Nautical Mile is perfect during the warm weather. There’s also Crow’s Nest Cove Miniature Golf, a pirate-themed golf course that’s fun for visitors of all ages. For dessert, head over to Pip’s Ice Cream Parlour, which serves a vast range of different Hershey’s ice cream flavors.
