It’s probably a good idea to bring some sunscreen and even earplugs, since the planes can get quite loud. If you can’t make it during the weekend, there’s a practice round on Friday, May 26, around noon.
Be aware, the beach and parking lot fill up extremely quickly, traffic can sometimes be a nightmare and parking is $10. Besides, you should enjoy yourself and not have to worry about driving, so make sure you reserve your cab today.
Hempstead’s 132nd Annual Memorial Day Parade
The parade offers free admission and begins at the American Legion Hall. From there, the procession will travel down Greenwich Street, finally making its way to Greenfield Cemetery where parade participants will place commemorative wreaths on the Civil War monument.
The parade is typically made up of veterans, police, and firefighters from all over Long Island, but everyone is welcome.
